Letchworth state park covers 17
miles and comprises over 14,350 acres of
magnificent
scenery
along the Genesee river, just 35
miles south of Rochester, NY. The precipitous walls of the
Genesee gorge, the river winding below, the plunge and spray of
the dramatic waterfalls, ant the lush forest all contribute to
make the park one
of the
most
notable examples of waterfall and gorge scenery in the
eastern united states.
Within the park, the Genesee river
roars over 3 waterfalls,
the tallest
being
107 ft
high. Each year the
river cuts deeper into the dramatic cliffs
which approach 600
feet in height.
There are numerous
walking trails
along
the gorge which are well maintained and
accessible. Fishing, canoeing
andkayaking,
snowmobiling, and cross county skiing are but a few of the popular
park activities.
Outdoor swimming pools are located
in the North and South
picnic
areas.
Overnight lodging is
available at several rustic cabin areas, a 270 site campground,
and the Glen Iris Inn. Be sure to visit the Letchworth Park
Museum featuring a large collection of Native American artifacts.Get Directions
